WINOC is governed by a 27-person Board of Trustees with balanced representation from management, labor, and civic leadership. It is chaired by Dr. Hira Fotedar, President of Fotedar Associates and former Vice President of Quality and Operational Excellence at Eaton.

Hira L. Fotedar, PhD, FASQ

Chairman

 

 

Dr. Hira Fotedar is President of Fotedar Associates and former Vice President - Quality and Operational Excellence, Eaton Corporation. He was with Eaton for 28 years assuming progressively senior management and leadership positions in the areas of product engineering and development, manufacturing, quality and operational excellence. 

With Fotedar Associates Dr. Fotedar makes his expertise available to clients in the following areas:

Career Planning and Executive Coaching

Dr. Fotedar developed and deployed Eaton’s Annual Business Excellence Assessment program to assess the deployment of the Eaton Business System. He has pioneered performance excellence initiatives such as Total Quality Leadership, Six Sigma, PROLaunch for new product development, Eaton Lean System and Best Practices Sharing companywide. These initiatives have contributed to placing Eaton in the top quartile of diversified industrial companies. Dr. Fotedar received Eaton’s Quality Pioneer Award in 1992 and the ECD- Quality Leadership Award in 1993. The American Society for Quality awarded him the Cecil C. Craig Award in 1987 and a Testimonial Award in 2001. Dr. Fotedar also received the 2004 Engineer of the Year Award from ASEI ( American Society of Engineers of Indian Origin).

Prior to joining Eaton, Dr. Fotedar was Associate Professor at the Instituto de Pesquisas Energeticas e Nucleares (IPEN, former IEA) in Sao Paulo, Brazil where he established programs and conducted research in advanced materials for Brazil's automotive and nuclear industry.

Dr. Fotedar holds a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from Banaras Hindu University India and holds M.S. and PhD degrees in the same field from the University of Washington, Seattle. He is an ASQ Fellow. He is a Founder and past Chairman of the Ohio Award of Excellence. Dr. Fotedar has served as an Examiner and a Senior Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (1995 - 1998). Dr. Fotedar is Chairman of Work in Northeast Ohio Council (WINOC). He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Michigan Quality Council and of the Board of Trustees of the Ohio Award for Excellence. He is co-chair of the Performance Improvement Council of The Conference Board, and Quality Council member of the Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation. [TOP]

 

Robert P. Meyer

Vice-Chairman & EVP

 

 

Bob Meyer is Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President for WINOC with key involvement and responsibilities in areas of Labor Management Cooperation, Public Programs and Memberships as well as being an experienced quality and productivity advisor. 

He is active on local and national committees that foster employee involvement in workplace change. He is also Director for the NE Ohio Center for Labor Management Cooperation, funded by the Ohio Department of Development. 

Bob has been with WINOC for 20+ years, having served previously as the Corporate Director of Productivity for Babcock and Wilcox, Director of Technical Services for Club Aluminum Co., and Quality Manager for Ohio Match Co., Division of Hunt-Wesson Foods. 

He is a former Baldrige Examiner and a certified quality engineer. 

Experience:

Facilitated the creation of strategic and operational plans for both governmental and industrial organizations. 

Conducted company-wide productivity systems assessments for both large and small businesses. 

Designed total quality management systems for small and mid-sized businesses. 

Designed and facilitated a labor management committee of a large municipal school system and its teachers union; as well as for several industrial companies. 

Helped develop consumer product safety standards for the U.S. government and ASTM.

Bob was actively involved in several economic development groups at the local and state level that were recognized in a Harvard case study on Cleveland's turnaround. He helped create and sustain the Ohio Labor Management Cooperation Program in the Ohio Department of Development.
